Oysters. Have them raw, with a lemon, a drop of Tabasco sauce, grilled with garlic and butter, as an appetizer, or at a bay side picnic. However you chose, oysters are delicious! We spent our Sunday, shucking these oysters ourselves at the Tomales Bay Oyster Company. These oysters are fresh and cheap compared to your typical restaurant prices. Better yet, its a great excuse to grab some friends and spend a day outside!

I spent my lazy weekend outside (this is my excuse for my lack in posts) because, for just two days, we had spring weather in the Bay Area. We headed up to Tomales Bay in West Marin and spent time in these massive green fields full of cows. It was freeing to be surrounded only by grass and nature. Its necessary to get away from “civilization” sometimes.

Being completely surrounded by greenery can provide for a most inspiring backdrop. Take a look at these naturally pretty scenes found through the web.

tiffany’s blue

23 Mar

french

tiffany’s blue, french turquoise, baby blue…whatever you want to call it… it’s one of my favorite colors. recently, i’ve seen it popping up all over home decor. i like how it is a unique color, but in its own subtle, calm way. I’ve noticed that turquoise blue really pairs well with bright pinks and magentas – it definitely makes the colors pop. the color also accents well with bright graphic prints. currently have a wooden table painted tiffany’s blue in my living room – my college room mate (j!)’s brother forced her to paint the table tiffany’s blue before moving it into our apartment. i immediately loved the color of it and am so glad i was able to inherit the table once we finished college (even though it needs a new coat of paint).

anthropologie drawer knobs

17 Mar

100lc_rwsbp8bphoto from www.100layercake.com/blog

How pretty is this bouquet of drawer knobs? That’s right, drawer knobs.  This may just look like a pretty set of trinkets, but really they are actually a collection of drawer knobs from Anthropologie. I came across this photograph on 100 Layer Cake and immediately knew the origin of these ceramic, sparkly, shiny “flowers.” Unless you’re like me (I sift through the carousels of drawer knobs every time I step into Anthropologie), its almost hard to tell.

kiddie art!

Nothing is more bright and fun and original than scribbled art, especially those made by kids! I’m not going to lie, the scribbled adorable “kiddie” art that’s displayed on my dresser is actually by my boyfriend – he has a knack for drawing portraits of “me” at restaurants that leave crayons for you to draw on their butcher paper table cloths. They definitely deserved a frame.

I came across this display of kid’s art on Design*Sponge (http://www.designspongeonline.com) yesterday and I loved the loose, collage feeling of pinning up random drawings on the wall. Somehow it doesn’t look super messy and, instead, is rather abstract and colorful.  Cute.
