So, as you may or may not know, I recently moved apartments. For the most part, it is still just a lot of blank walls with some furniture lying around. We have begun to make an effort though, squishing decorating time in-between work time, play time, sleep time, and all sorts of other time. Settling will take time, but here is a tiny sneak peak at what’s to come (and an excuse for me to pull out my camera).
Above is my makeshift summer themed table display. I surrounded my candlestick holders with two empty Anchor Summer beer bottles (I liked the label), heart-shaped rocks that I collected last summer at a beach in Nice, France, and some cucumber and french vanilla flavored candles. The “flowers” were found in my junk box and are temporary until I decide what else to stick in the bottles.
Our fish bowl of keys. My older sister has a bowl exactly like this and I always wanted my own. I spent this past Friday afternoon, wandering Clement Street in San Francisco and found the bowl in a Japanese market surrounded my sushi plates and sake bottles.
Keys. Cellphone, Wallet. Upon entering the apartment, there is a little strip of counter where our keys, cellphones, sunglasses, etc are thrown. Its a good place because then we’re never found searching for a set of lost keys. I paint the writing straight onto the glass and was going for a messy sort of look. The background is a sunny picture of the UCSC Squiggle sculpture.
This poster sat curled up in my old bedroom until now. We got this poster from the Owl City concert I went to awhile back (I wrote about it here) and it now has a home right by the refrigerator. I am a big fan of text as artwork. The lyrics are from Owl City’s Vanilla Twilight.
That is all for now. A quick, short little sneak peak, but I’ll definitely be showing you more as things get more put together. The picture below shows how much work is to be done! Here is the living room…with no couch, coffee table, pretty much everything….but its cozy and I like it =D.
