Art by The New Domestic

Thanks to The New Domestic and How About Orange, we now have artwork hanging above our dining table (the above photo is not my dining area, its from The New Domestic). When I saw this simple, but graphically enticing painting on How About Orange a few days ago, I knew that I had to try it out. A quick trip to Michael’s for a large canvas, Home Depot for painter’s tape (we went for 3/4 inch tape), and an evening of paint splattered hands and DJ-ing by the boyfriend resulted in a completed painting above the dining table.

We went for a strawberry red and slate gray color combination, similar to The New Domestic’s original, simply because of the way it complemented the light turquoise of the dining room table. It definitely brightens up the space and its so nice to finally see the apartment come together! Here is our very similar rendition:

    hopped over here after your post on AT to check out your rendition of this painting. you sealed the deal for me! it looks great and totally easy. can’t wait to try it! i think i’m going to go with an orange-red, my favorite color.
