End of July

1 Aug

How did you spend your last weekend of July? Around this time, the reality that there is no such thing as an “endless summer,” always kicks in and I get a little bit anxious about cramming in as many summer activities as possible before the days start to get cooler and shorter. Luckily, this weekend was packed with summer fun – a baseball game, exploring our new neighborhood, and the ever-so-popular Gilroy Garlic Festival. This was my first time attending the garlic festival despite hearing about it for years. I was pretty much satisfied walking from booth to booth trying garlic everything – ice cream, escargot, fries, marinated mushrooms, and seafood. We left happy and umm…stinking of garlic. Thank goodness for the free mouthwash samples!

Possibilities

28 Jul

One of the best things about moving is the chance to start new. While we are currently living amongst boxes and piles of crumpled magazine pages (from our packing), somewhere there is a glimmer of possibilities that makes unpacking worth it. To say I’m excited about decorating is an understatement, my mental list of things to buy keeps getting longer and longer! Besides the necessary furniture building, our bookshelf has been my biggest decorating “accomplishment” this week. Granted, I will probably re-do the entire thing once we actually start the real decorating phase, our bookshelf offers a glimpse into the potential this place has! More to come…

Secret Lake

We discovered this “secret” lake this past Saturday during a day trip to Napa, CA for a friend’s birthday. While the main attraction is Castello di Amorosa, a popular winery built to resemble a medieval castle, we wandered past the roped off areas and found this picturesque hidden lake! It seriously looked like it was straight out of a movie. It would be the most gorgeous spot for a picnic and boat ride!

Weekend Words

With the move and travelling for work these past few weeks, I feel like I’ve been sort of a wanderer – switching between living in our almost empty current apartment and out of my suitcase/hotels, while our new place sits waiting for us. This weekend we’re finishing the move and officially calling our new place “home.” I’m a little sad to say goodbye to our apartment, but the possibilities of our new apartment and neighborhood are so much more exciting! I can’t wait to start exploring! Happy Weekend!

Moving Day!

15 Jul

Mike and I have been on a crazy apartment hunt for the past few months and we finally, finally found a new place! Ever since graduating, I’ve moved every single year, so this whole moving business has become somewhat normal. The possibilities and excitement that new places bring never gets old though – new decor, layouts, artwork, memories…. We’re planning to spend tonight sipping beers and starting the packing process for our big move this weekend! Happy Weekend!

Summer Sangria

I’ve wanted to make Sangria after first sipping it at Cha Cha Cha’s in San Francisco a few years back. I finally had the perfect opportunity over the Fourth of July weekend. We planned an entire day spent outside that concluded with a barbeque. Making the sangria required only a few steps – cutting up the fruit, mixing together the liquids, and chilling the concoction for a few hours. The result was a tangy, bubbly sangria that paired perfectly with our summer weekend outdoors.
