Green Onions

22 Mar

Since I currently consider myself a non-gardener (you should see my browning succulents – sad!), these green onions have really boosted my gardening confidence. M read an article about growing your own green onions by simply taking the roots of store-bought green onions, dunking them water, and giving them some sun. I decided to give it a try and, a few weeks later, we’ve been enjoying sprinkling our chopped up green onions over omelettes and bowls of spicy ramen. It is that easy! They grow super fast too. Its kind of crazy. As an added bonus, our little green onion plants add a bit of greenery to our kitchen!

Pot + Pantry

13 Mar

A few weeks ago, we were walking around the Mission in San Francisco and came across one of those stores. You know, those stores that are just SO everything you’d ever want in a store if you had one?! No? Maybe I’m just weird. Pot + Pantry, a small kitchen boutique, is that kind of store to me – I knew from first glance at the store’s font and window display that it would be amazing. And then, we went inside and the products and displays were just as gorgeous as the store front. Pot + Pantry is bursting with unique and vintage kitchen trinkets and essentials – all packaged into the most adorable little store!

Coffee Lover

1 Mar

The title of this post may be mis-leading. I’m not the coffee lover here, that would be my boyfriend. With that said, no trip to the city is complete without a stop (or two) to a local, specialty coffee shop. While my boyfriend enjoys his single origin cup of Ethiopian coffee, I admire the package design and cafe ambiance – the big rustic tables, the hand-stamped cups, and kraft paper coffee bags. Local coffee shops around here are excellent with their branding. So, while I have yet to move away from my love of Starbuck’s iced carmel macchiatos, I’ll visit any these coffee shops any day.

Heart Ice Cream Sandwiches

20 Feb

I made these heart ice cream sandwiches for our Valentine’s Day indoor picnic and I’ve been devouring them every since. Ice cream sandwiches were my favorite dessert in the Dining Hall during my Freshmen year of college, so I was eager to make my own version! I love how cute the sandwiches turned out, especially the heart cookies which I had to bake three at a time in our toaster oven (our oven is still broken!). Its such a great spin to the classic ice cream sandwich.

Quick Glimpse

I’m too excited about these heart-shaped ice cream sandwiches I made yesterday that I had to stop by and share a quick snapshot. More coming soon!
