how to: make recycled frames

recycled magazine frame

Determined not to spend the usual $20+ on a recycled magazine frame at Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, etc, I decided to try to re-create this crafty frame on my own. As you can see above, my version of the recycled frame is a little less busy than the ones usually found in stores (shown below). I did this by using larger tubes/coils of paper and by covering the glass of the frame, leaving the white frame border exposed. Of course, this is just my preference and you can make yours however you would like!

Recycled catalog/magazine frames are super simple to make. With a little practice, they can take less than an hour to construct. For a catalog collector like me (I cannot resist the photography and patterns), this is a perfect way to re-use my collection! Below are the how-to instructions on how to make these frames (Please click the images to enlarge if the text is too small):

I would love to see your frames! Please leave a comment or email me @ thelateafternoon@gmail.com

Enjoy!

Thanks for this! I want to make these for Christmas gifts and I was going to attempt them on my own – but I’m so happy to have found instructions.
