The City with the Painted Ladies
29 Aug
I’ve lived on the outskirts of the city for most of my life, but have never seen the Painted Ladies, the six old Victorians lined up along Steiner Street by San Francisco’s Alamo Square, until today. The Victorians remind me of dollhouses with their little cut-out windows, scalloped edges, and pastel, washed-out colors. Its too bad today’s homes are built with such detail in mind.
A few friends and I ended up at Alamo Square this afternoon after a delicious brunch (eggs benedict…yum!) at Eats, a failed attempted at the De Young Museum (the special Impressionism exhibit was completely booked), and a few hours playing tourist at Fisherman’s Wharf. Sundays spent wandering aimlessly and spontaneous adventures are the best, especially in SF. Days like these are a good reminder of how much character the city has and how much there is to explore right in our own backyard.

Did you feel like you were in Full House ;)? Also – I can walk to the De Young from my apt (no parking!) – so if you visit me, we could try again!
Haha actually, yes! My friends and i were totally singing the full house theme song for a little bit! I cant wait to see your new place :)
Ive never seem these six ladies either although the Haight-Ashbury have many lovely painted ladies. I’ll show you my photo next time
